What are My Nectar Prices?

In a nutshell, you get extra rewards for downloading the SmartShop app and using it to scan and check your shopping in-store. You'll be rewarded with discounts on around 10 products picked just for you each week.

By using the app, you can get discounts on things you’d normally purchase, as the app allows Sainsbury's to track your spending habits, to tailor your offers.

Note: You won't be able to use normal tills to get the offers, you will need to use the self-scan service, SmartShop in store.

How much can I save with My Nectar Prices?

Customers will see reductions of up to 30% on their favourite items, as well as also earning 1 nectar point for every £1 spent.

Sainsbury's has estimated that shoppers can save more than £200 a year through the new scheme, with more ways to earn and save being announced by the end of 2021.

Will I still get the ALDI Price Match offer?

My Nectar Prices also incorporate their brand new 'Aldi Price Match discounts', meaning Sainsbury's customers will always receive the best possible price and value on their shopping in-store.

Customers will be offered the 'My Nectar Prices' money-off selections in addition to their usual Nectar points.

Will I still earn Nectar Points?

Yes, you will still earn points as normal online and in-store. This is just an extra bonus for SmartShop app users.

Customers will still receive one point per pound at Sainsbury's and one point per litre at Sainsbury's petrol stations, including items purchased at Nectar Price.

How much are my Nectar Points worth?

  • 1 Nectar point is worth half a penny
  • 100 Nectar points are worth 50p
  • 200 points are worth £1
  • 300 points are worth £1.50
  • 500 points are worth £2.50 - and so on.

Will Sainsbury's still have a Double Up Event?

Nectar has run its popular double-up event for many years now, but we have been hearing from staff that due to the new 'my nectar prices app' they almost certainly won't doing it this year.

Update: Sainsbury's have confirmed the cancellation of their Double Up event, you can read more about it here

Our Thoughts...

This new scheme only rewards those who shop in-store have the ability to use an app. It excludes anyone who prefers (or has to) shop online. It excludes those who don't use/want smartphones and a lot of the older generation who have no interest in modern technology.

The scrapping of the Nectar Double Points event in favour of this is rather unpopular, we have been hearing from many disgruntled customers who have been saving their points in anticipation of the once-popular points event.
