Don't be Tempted to Rent your Facebook account out for Money

Can I rent out my personal Facebook account in exchange for money? This is a question that keeps popping up in the money saving/making community and in short, yes you can, but should you? Absolutely not and here's why....

As the old adage says, 'If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is'. In this case it definitely is. Hundreds of people have had their facebook accounts compromised and banned for good.

What is Facebook Account Renting?

Several online websites have recently pooped up offering unsuspecting Facebook account owners cash insentives of up to £100 per month to bypass Facebooks ad system, and millions of people are risking getting their precious Facebook account banned forever to get their hands on some easy money!

What Happens When I Rent Out My Facebook Account?

Once you have given control of your Facebook account to the company via a download, they will then create a Facebook page, access your ads manager and start running ads.  You are in effect becoming an ad mule by letting them use your established account to run questionable ads.

What Are The Risks?

Apart from getting your account banned for life, giving out your Facebook credentials is a terrible idea! The amount of personal data on personal Facebook account is enough to get your whole identity cloned.  You are giving complete strangers access to every single detail of your life from phone numbers and emails to credit card information and personal messages. It is so easy to install backdoor software to track your every move for life and you wouldn't even know it was there.

Secondly, the renter might not be in a country eligible to run Facebook ads, there is a very good reason certain countries are banned and you helping them bypass this won't do you any favours. You might find your ads are inadvertently sending out links to all manner of undesirable content because they can run ads that circumvent processes that Facebook uses to filter them.

Then there is the possibility that they’ll run perfectly legitimate ads, only to pay for them with stolen payment methods - which could land you in a whole heap of trouble.  Fraud and theft will certainly get your page banned, as well and a charge for identity theft and fraud.  Playing stupid and saying “I didn’t know they were doing” isn’t a valid excuse, especially when account sharing, selling and/or renting is against Facebooks terms of service.

Can I Get My Facebook Account Back?

Highly unlikely, as renting out your Facebook account for any reason what-so-ever is a violation of Facebook's terms of service, so you wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Facebook ads manager Robert Leathern has issued a statement warning the public that they are fully aware of these types of activities taking place and are taking action to find and terminate affected accounts - so be warned!
