1 - BT

Money Saving Central

Get strong, reliable WI-FI with BT home essentials package. If you qualify, you’ll get Home Essentials for a year, even if you come off benefits. This package has no data caps or download limits.

Price: £15 Per Month

Contract Terms: 12 Month Contract

Qualifying Benefits: Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Jobseeker’s Allowance or Income Support

Average Speeds: 67Mbs

Evidence Needed: National Insurance Number, BT will automatically run an eligibility check every 12 months.

2 - Virgin Media 

Virgin Media Broadband Universal Credit

New and existing customers can get online at home for just £15 a month with Virgin Media's Essential broadband package. 

Price: £15 Per Month

Contract Terms: 30 day rolling contract

Qualifying Benefits: Universal Credit

Average Speeds: 15Mbps

Evidence Needed: A clear screenshot of your online Universal Credit Payments page, showing your name, address, assessment period and payment date. The payment date shown must be within the last 30 days to qualify.

3 - Hyperoptic

Hyperoptic Broadband universal Credit

Hyperoptic's 'Fair Fiber' Plans start at £15 per month, but also give you the option to upgrade to faster speeds for a seriously discounted price. It's available to new and existing customers in eligible areas. 

Price: £15 Per Month

Contract Terms: 30 day rolling contract

Qualifying Benefits: Income Support, Pension Credit, Income-related Job Seekers Allowance (JSA), Housing Benefit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Attendance Allowance, Universal Credit, Care Leavers support or Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

Average Speeds: 50Mb

Evidence Needed: You will need to provide a document proving you're in receipt of one of the above benefits. It should not be older than 90 days and would need to show your full name and address.

 

4 - Sky

Sky Broadband Universal Credit

Sky Broadband Social Tariff is only available to existing customers, and costs £20 per month. 

Price: £20 Per Month

Contract Terms: 18 Months

Qualifying Benefits: Universal Credit or Pension Credit

Average Speeds: 36Mb/s

Evidence Needed: National Insurance Number

5 - NOW

NOW Broadband universal Credit

NOW Broadband Basics Tariff is only available to existing customers, and costs £20 per month.  You will also get a 'Pay as you Use' calls plan included at no extra cost. So you only pay for the calls you make, with no monthly charge.

Contract Terms: Rolling Monthly Contract

Qualifying Benefits: Universal Credit or Pension Credit

Average Speeds: 36Mbps

Evidence Needed: National Insurance number and you might need to send in evidence of your qualifying benefit.

TalkTalk Free Broadband Universal Credit

Price: Free for 6 Months

Contract Terms: No Contract and No credit check

Qualifying Benefits: Universal Credit and have a work coach through the Job Centre to qualify.

Evidence Needed: None, you need to apply for the free broadband via your Jobcentre., your work coach will give you a code to use with talkTalk.

Can I get Free Broadband on Benefits?

Unfortunately, no providers are currently offering free broadband to UK customers on benefits, but they are offering it very cheap.  If you are on a qualifying benefit such as universal credit, you can get online at home for as little as £15 per month.
